The value of the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange returned to the N3 trillion mark for the third time this month after it appreciated by 6.6 per cent on Tuesday, September 17.
Data from the unlisted securities exchange showed that the market capitalisation of the trading platform improved yesterday by N194.70 billion to end at N3.136 trillion compared with the previous day’s N2.941 trillion and the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) added 82.09 points to wrap the session at 2,228.65 points compared to 2,146.56 points recorded in the previous session.
The upward movement recorded by the bourse was triggered by the gains recorded by the platform’s bellwethers amid an improvement in the level of activity.
Yesterday, investors exchanged 5.8 million securities, in contrast to the 214,261 securities transacted in the previous trading session, implying a 2,603.1 per cent rise.
In the same vein, the value of securities bought and sold by traders went up by 355.6 per cent to N1.1 billion from the N244.9 million achieved in the preceding session.
Similarly, the number of deals carried out during the trading day witnessed an increase of 146.2 per cent to 128 deals from the 52 deals executed in the previous trading session.
Aradel Holdings Plc gained N890.10 to end at N9,197.10 per unit, in contrast to last Friday’s N8,901.00 per unit, Geo Fluids Plc jumped by 8 Kobo to end the session at N2.50 per share versus the preceding day’s N2.42 per share, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc expanded by 51 Kobo to close at N47.45 per unit compared with the previous day’s N47.25 per unit.
At the close of business, Afriland Properties Plc was the most active stock by volume (year-to-date) with 293.3 million units valued at N5.2 billion, Capital Hotels Plc came next with 259.6 million sold for N1.3 billion, and Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc was in third for trading 221.9 million units worth N46.7 million.
Aradel Holdings Plc closed the day as the most traded stock by value (year-to-date) with 11.2 million units valued at N43.5 billion, Afriland Properties Plc exchanged 293.3 million units valued at N5.2 billion, while Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc transacted 107.3 million units for N2.6 billion.
